Audi Convertible - Mid Life Crisis

Anonymous
Having a mid life crisis at 63. Want to buy a convertible.

I realize the Camaro, Mustang and Wrangler convertibles I am too old for.

The Audi seems like a nice convertible. What do you think?

Any other suggestions?

Mid-life crises happen at 40-something (or maybe 50ish). You are well beyond that.

At any rate, thee is no such thing as "too old for" a car. You want the car, get the car (assuming you can afford it). I had a convertible PT Cruiser for awhile. I loved that thing.

That's just embarrassing. LOL

I get it. Surely it is, at least in the (also embarrassing) DCUM we-have-a-Range-Rover-and-a-Tesla-and-we-bought-our-nanny-a-Pacifica world. But it's not as embarrassing as being 63 and talking about your "Mid Life Crisis." I mean -- that's both social delusion and an inability to multiply by 2.

OP,

1. You are never too old for your dream car!

2. PP is right. "Midlife" used to be in your 40s. You might live to be 126, but... you know.

My dream car, as a petite Asian woman, is a 4 seater electric Mini. Waiting.

I am mid life crisis as my youngest is starting college next Fall and will be an empty Nestor for first time. So I can really get any car. No need seating for five and grocer getter. I drive to work around 1.5 hour round trip each day so a fun car. But not at retirement phase yet. It’s the midlife between kids and retirement

I also like the Jaguar, BMW and Mercedes convertible but new ones very expensive and uses ones maint is a killer.

Audi A5, TT, or R8? The TT is an older design. I'd go A5.

A5 is more modern. The TT on I95 in rush hour everyday is a bit too much excitement.

Do it! I have an Audi convertible that I bought to use for commuting, and I love it. It’s now 10 years old and still looks great, and (knock on wood) we’ve had almost no mechanical issues. I say “we” because it’s ended up at college with my DC. I keep offering to buy him a newer car, but he loves the Audi. I bought mine from a place that sold cars coming off lease, which used to be a good way to get them, but the used car market is so screwed up right now, I’m not sure that works anymore.

I googled and 40-60 is mid life crisis age range. So a little older.

I had my first mid life crisis at 24 when I bought a 1976 Jeep
CJ7 Bicentennial Convertible with a lift kit, huge Eagle on hood and Levi package seats, then at 26 a Red Jeep Wrangler Convertible followed by a Mercedes convertible at 31 as the crisis was my youth and being single ending soon and once married no more fun cars. By 38 had the three row vehicle, kid in back, house in suburb. This will be my second mid life crisis and a convertible is always the answer. Just this time older. So need a more mature convertible.

I doubt driving a CJ7 Jeep lifted in air with monster tires and graphics at 63 will be cool like when I was 24 picking up 22 year old girls for a drive to the beach! I felt silly in it by 26.

If you want a convertible, then buy it. Whatever "crisis" people think you are going through, ignore them.

I hated trucks for years. Always wondered why anyone would buy one to use as their daily driver. Then a car rental offered me one for 4 days. Now my next vehicle will be a truck. I loved the space and the height.

Life is too short to be worrying about "crisis" and what other people think.
