Audi Convertible - Mid Life Crisis

I don’t love then. Plus prices crazy. Very low to ground, no trunk space and high maint. To be honest I enjoyed driving my BMW 5 series better. But bar none pulling up to country club on a sunny day Porsche all day long. But I got to drive 195 10,000 miles a year

I realize the Camaro, Mustang and Wrangler convertibles I am too old for.

The Audi seems like a nice convertible. What do you think?

Any other suggestions?

I googled and 40-60 is mid life crisis age range. So a little older.

I had my first mid life crisis at 24 when I bought a 1976 Jeep
CJ7 Bicentennial Convertible with a lift kit, huge Eagle on hood and Levi package seats, then at 26 a Red Jeep Wrangler Convertible followed by a Mercedes convertible at 31 as the crisis was my youth and being single ending soon and once married no more fun cars. By 38 had the three row vehicle, kid in back, house in suburb. This will be my second mid life crisis and a convertible is always the answer. Just this time older. So need a more mature convertible.

I doubt driving a CJ7 Jeep lifted in air with monster tires and graphics at 63 will be cool like when I was 24 picking up 22 year old girls for a drive to the beach! I felt silly in it by 26.

Do yourself a favor - DO NOT search out what the CJ you just described is worth today. You’ll never forgive yourself for not putting it in storage for 40 years.

I've had three Miatas back in my youth, switched to a mom-car. A few years back, I bought a BMW 435 hard-top convertible because my kids were driving my mom-car but not out of the house yet, and it was the only hard top out there that could seat 4.

I wanted the hard top for two reasons: first, I saw a convertible roll over on the freeway, and I'd like to not get crushed if the top is up (as I always put the top up on the freeway). Second, I wanted it to be quiet in the cabin when the top was up. (free from outside noise)

What I wasn't expecting is that it is no joke that the BMW is amazing to drive. I *think* they don't make the 4 seater hard-top anymore, but you stated in your OP that you don't need to seat 4.

Re soft tops, I'm in California in a town that has many convertibles. The Mercedes looks great. The Porsche is too noisy imo.

You aren’t too old for any of these. Have fun and get what you want.

I sold it for $1,500 with 69,000 on odometer. It came from factory no AM/FM Radio as it had a CB radio with a monster cool big CB Antenna on back of Jeep. It was rare as had Levi package with full denim seats plus Special bicentennial edition with a huge American Eagle on hood. Had the 304 CI and stick. Factory push bars and factor trailer hitch.

I sold it to a Gardner who wanted it for the hitch and big engine. I recall him saying will be in his garage maybe driving 1,000 miles a year just in summer to pull his trailer with lawn stuff. He was happy with low mileage. It might still be around

Any opinions about the 2024 Audi A5 Cabriolet? I am seriously considering getting one now that I am an empty-nester.

Do or don't do, there is no try.

Porsche 718 or 911 convertible is the only convertible that doesn't make you look pathetic. And it holds its value.

A convertible Audi is fine if you're gay.

I want the latest generation Corvette with the retractable convertible top. They look like super cars.

Yes! Well done. Fun for a straight gal or a gay guy.

Is there a list of gay and women cars to avoid as a straight man?

When single I had a red wrangler convertible and pretty much only girls 18-23 drooled over it.

But I also had a 1969 Plymouth GTX and men 30-70 would drool over car.
