Who has the biggest college coach Rolodex

Sometimes it’s not about the Coach’s contacts and more about who the parents know.

Smart families will take better offers at smaller academic schools, even DIII. Those kids will get minutes and an excellent undergrad degree.

Lol! If my kid gets into Penn because she’s recruited for soccer you think I’d prefer to send her to a DIII school instead so she can get more playing time at a DIII? That’s funny.

It isn't about what YOU want though, is it? Well, perhaps with you it is all about what you want. It should be what your kid wants.

Maybe she doesn't want to show up at the weight room at 5 a.m., lift then run then go to class, study, practice, study then go to bed and not get five minutes of playing time for four years. She might want a good education and get to be a valuable part of the team for her efforts.

And don't try telling us it's what she wants. You already told us it's about you and what you want. I think most of us know what time it is with parents/people like yourself.

I’m not sure what you mean by “people like yourself”? We are trying to get the best for our kids. Isn’t that what we all want? My kids barely know what they want for breakfast, much less their future. Most of them really don’t know what they want. Plus if I’m paying for college I believe I should have some say in the decision.

Why is that funny? If she’s recruited but doesn’t get money, hell yes!

That said, personally I would rather pay out the ass for Penn regardless, but I don’t think most parents are crazy like me.

Not crazy at all. I’d rather pay for Penn than free ride at No Name U.

In the modern real world, the character, discipline and work ethic of the kid is 20x's more important than the school name

You sound ignorant. Keep in mind, i didn't say stupid. I said ignorant. You aren't educated on this like you think.

Johns Hopkins, Amherst, NYU, University of Chicago, Wellesley, Tufts, MIT, Swarthmore and Carnegie Mellon are amongst these "no name" DIII schools you are $h!t talking. Have you heard of them?

DIII schools are typically very good academic schools and many have good to excellent reputations. Typically, not always, the DIII colleges have smaller enrollments. Whilst athletics are taken seriously, it isn't the end all be all for the athlete. Many are able to have more well rounded college experience.

All that said, you keep thinking a degree from a DIII athletic school is doo doo.

And by "one of those people," I meant someone who is pompous and, or, doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

Brown
Penn
UVA
Amherst
Williams
Georgia
Howard (x 2)

And more. The junior class is even more impressive with commits to Columbia, UCLA, FSU, Penn State, UVA, Navy, Wisconsin…

And notice that these teams are making playoffs but not necessarily #1 or even #3 in their divisions. So it’s not just about the wins.

Walk on positions at ucla and Florida state are hardly impressive.

I'll concede that, to a point. At the low end they are worse. However, at top end they are every bit as good as the top DI schools.

NM and BP. They are willing to actually put in calls at certain schools for your player because it helps there reputation.

CW is the older statesman. He's got to be on his way out (MYS pulled his TD role, asst coaching the two youngest FVU ECNL teams and coaching the 2013s at Mclean. This is now pretty far away from the college game, he'll be coaching little girls. His current team is doing badly and getting trashed in another thread.) The reputation is their but seen as long in the tooth and best days are behind him. Like Biden.

I have heard anecdotes were CW was slow to respond to calls and email etc from schools.
Truth is that it is not like the coach just picks up the phone and says recruit this player. The player and her parents have to do their work. The coach is like a guidance counselor letter of recommendation it is additive but not determinative.

1. McLean (by a large margin)
2. VDA (smaller club but excellent placement)

so the kids don't care about playing? Do they know this upfront? Just want to go to the school? Since you know...how does this work?
