State of the Art Play Space and Movement Studio Planned for Downtown DC

Junior's Clubhouse will be a spectacular place to play for boys and girls ages 12 and younger.

One of the ramifications of operating a high-profile parenting website is a constant stream of email about new parenting products or services. Many are interesting and things in which I think our users might be interested. Some are not. Then, there are a few, a very few, that just blow me away. Cheryl Zandt's idea for "Junior's Clubhouse" is one of those. Described as "a state-of-the-art indoor playground and movement studio for kids", when I saw what was planned for Junior's Clubhouse, my reaction was "heck with the kids, I want to play there".

Zandt has identified a location in the Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood in downtown DC and drafted plans for a rainforest-themed play area divided between sections for babies and older kids (up to age 12). To raise funds for securing her lease, Zandt has been running a campaign on Fundable.

As the Fundable page explains:

"The centerpiece of the facility will be two tall climbing trees flanking a thatched-roof hideaway clubhouse, complete with spy glasses, ship's wheel, and captain's bell. Additional play features will include a climbing maze of ramps, PlasmaCar racetrack, zip line, helix slides, interactive electronic floor and wall panels, a velcro wall, ball area, balance logs, shaky rope bridges, balancing logs, ball area, and much more."

Zandt has a lot of ideas about how to make Junior's Clubhouse a centerpiece of children's activities. In addition to the play areas, there will be classes by Tiny Dancers and One Breath at a Time yoga. The facility will be available for birthday parties and will offer various drop-off programs (these are by appointment only). So whether it is a rainy day, or one of those inconvenient school closings that coincide with your important work committments, you'll have a place that your child can be safely entertained.

Junior's Clubhouse will be conveniently located close to two Metro stations and easily accessible to those of us in the city as well as many in close-in suburbs. I am really excited about what Junior's Clubhouse will add to the District. As such, I am pleased to help get the word out and encourage you to consider joining the Fundable campaign:

So far, the campaign has raised 60% its goal. With 22 days left, there is a good chance funding will be secured. Each amount pledged earns a reward. For instance, contributing $100 is rewarded with a 10-pack of admissions (each good for one child and one accompanying adult). They don't expire and can be shared with other families. Where else can you get this kind of fun for $10?

Take a minute or two and visit the Junior's Clubhouse Fundable page and read more about Zandt's ideas (and see the pictures). I think you will realize why I am so excited.
