Trump is Unfit for Office

Cult leader, convicted felon, and failed President Donald Trump has completely lost it. If you were not already convinced of this, the last few days have provided enough evidence to persuade all but the most dedicated cultists. Almost any time Trump opens his mouth these days, he does a disservice to our country and damages our national interests. The media's tendency to "sanewash" what Trump says and, therefore, sugarcoat his words, and Trump's cultish followers' contention that Trump's insanities are nothing more than good fun, tend to hide the reality of what passes through Trump's lips on a regular basis.

Often the bizarre statements that Trump issues are harmless, if nonsensical. For instance, two days ago Trump, for no discernable reason, "truthed" on his Truth Social social media network that "There is a new word for a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, which is almost everyone (GREAT POLICY IS THE KEY!). It is, TEPUBLICAN??? Or, TPUBLICAN???" This is a man who has clearly run out of juice. Moreover, the much more recognizable, as well as pronounceable, "MAGA" already exists and is heavily used.

But more often these days, Trump simply behaves like a schoolyard bully. I've previously mentioned Trump yelling "Quiet, piggy" at Bloomberg News' Catherine Lucey when she asked him about Jeffrey Epstein. Trump has always had a special animus towards women who challenge him. He demonstrated this tendency again on Wednesday when he reacted to a New York Times article that questioned his stamina. Trump described Katie Rogers, one of the reporters whose byline was on the article, as "a third-rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out." Last week when Trump hosted Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Oval Office, he got angry about questions from ABC News chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce regarding the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. Trump called her a "terrible person and a terrible reporter." Just yesterday, when CBS White House correspondent Nancy Cordes asked Trump a question about his administration's vetting of refugees, Trump rudely asked if she was “a stupid person." Trump is a serial perpetrator of ad hominem attacks on female reporters.

However, nobody manages to attract Trump's anger, and thereby reveal his lack of fitness for the office, more than non-White immigrants. Wednesday's deplorable shooting of two members of the West Virginia National Guard in Washington, D.C. that left one critically wounded and killed the second, launched Trump into another round of attacks on immigrants. I want to talk about this shooting for a bit. The perpetrator of the attack is said to be Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old from Afghanistan. In Afghanistan, Lakanwal had served in a so-called "Zero Unit," which was a CIA-trained Afghan paramilitary force that specialized in night raids and clandestine missions. In an article about Lakanwal and his service in the Zero Unit, the New York Times quoted Taliban officials and human rights groups as describing Zero Units as "death squads." The article also quoted a childhood friend of Lakanwal's as saying that Lakanwal "suffered from mental health issues and was disturbed by the casualties his unit had caused."

Lakanwal was brought to the U.S. following the American withdrawal from Afghanistan and the subsequent Taliban takeover. He was granted asylum this year by the Trump administration. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Trump's first instinct, which was reflected throughout his administration, was to cast blame on former President Joe Biden, who initiated the policy of bringing Afghans who had been American allies to the United States. In addition, Trump exploited the violence to attack other immigrants of color.

Lakanwal's precise motivations for the attack are unknown for now. However, as stated above, he is a CIA-trained killer who was forced to flee his homeland due to his association with American forces. Someone like Lakanwal who had served in a Zero Unit would surely have been targeted for death by the Taliban had he remained in the country. While hundreds of thousands of Afghans risked their lives on behalf of the American forces in Afghanistan, the Trump administration has shown little appreciation for their service. In April, Trump ended temporary protected status for Afghans, potentially exposing them to deportation back to Afghanistan. In June, Trump suspended the entry of nationals of Afghanistan into the United States. Just two days ago, the organization Afghan Evac published a summary of a new U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services directive that froze all Green Card processing for Afghans and required all refugees that had been admitted following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan to be re-interviewed and possibly have their refugee status revoked. There have been repeated media reports about Afghans who fought the Taliban on behalf of the U.S. being detained in the U.S. by immigration authorities and facing deportation. It is at least within the realm of possibility that the shooting was provoked by Trump's apparent betrayal of our Afghan allies.

However, Trump is incapable of any such introspection. Instead, Trump decided to punish the entire Afghan community. USIC immediately announced that "Effective immediately, processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is stopped indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols." Trump himself said that "We must now re-examine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden."

Trump did not stop with migrants from Afghanistan. For some reason, Trump has been fixated on Somalis lately. On November 23, he said that he would end temporary protected status for Somalis, specifically targeting "Somalis in Minnesota." This continues a trend of Trump singling out Black migrants such as during the presidential campaign when he lied about Haitians eating pet cats and dogs. Twice while talking about the shooting of the National Guard members, Trump inexplicably brought up Somalis. The first time was during an address about the shooting in D.C. in which he veered off to complain about Somalis in Minnesota who were "ripping off our country and ripping apart that once great state." The second time was during a press conference he held at Mar-a-Lago when Trump was asked about Afghans who are legally living in the United States. Trump's response was to say "If you look at Somalia, they are taking over Minnesota." When a reporter asked, "What do the Somalians have to do with this Afghan guy who shot the National Guard members?", Trump's response was "Ah, nothing. But Somalians have caused a lot of trouble. They're ripping us off."

All of this culminated in two Thanksgiving messages that Trump posted on Truth Social. I will quote them in full because they really do have to be seen to be believed. The first was:

…Even as we have progressed technologically, Immigration Policy has eroded those gains and living conditions for many. I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our Country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization. These goals will be pursued with the aim of achieving a major reduction in illegal and disruptive populations, including those admitted through an unauthorized and illegal Autopen approval process. Only REVERSE MIGRATION can fully cure this situation. Other than that, HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, except those that hate, steal, murder, and destroy everything that America stands for — You won’t be here for long!

A very Happy Thanksgiving salutation to all of our Great American Citizens and Patriots who have been so nice in allowing our Country to be divided, disrupted, carved up, murdered, beaten, mugged, and laughed at, along with certain other foolish countries throughout the World, for being “Politically Correct,” and just plain STUPID, when it comes to Immigration. The official United States Foreign population stands at 53 million people (Census), most of which are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels. They and their children are supported through massive payments from Patriotic American Citizens who, because of their beautiful hearts, do not want to openly complain or cause trouble in any way, shape, or form. They put up with what has happened to our Country, but it’s eating them alive to do so! A migrant earning $30,000 with a green card will get roughly $50,000 in yearly benefits for their family. The real migrant population is much higher. This refugee burden is the leading cause of social dysfunction in America, something that did not exist after World War II (Failed schools, high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, housing shortages, and large deficits, etc.). As an example, hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota. Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for “prey” as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone. The seriously retarded Governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz, does nothing, either through fear, incompetence, or both, while the worst “Congressman/woman” in our Country, Ilhan Omar, always wrapped in her swaddling hijab, and who probably came into the U.S.A. illegally in that you are not allowed to marry your brother, does nothing but hatefully complain about our Country, its Constitution, and how “badly” she is treated, when her place of origin is a decadent, backward, and crime ridden nation, which is essentially not even a country for lack of Government, Military, Police, schools, etc.

It is difficult to even know where even to begin with these posts. Perhaps the first thing to note is that the messages were delivered on Thanksgiving Day, a holiday in which the success of immigrants to this land thanks to the assistance of the existing inhabitants is celebrated. Trump has turned the meaning of Thanksgiving on its head. Second are the examples of Trump again acting as a bully. His use of unacceptable language regarding Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and a defamatory allegation (one that has been repeatedly investigated and found to be unsubstantiated) about Congresswoman Ilhan Omar should be disqualifying for any American president. But most concerning is the outright racism and white nationalism displayed in the posts. Trump is clearly revealing himself as a white supremacist. He engages in slander after slander about immigrants, misrepresenting falsehoods as facts. Stop and think for a second about how, according to Trump, immigrants are simultaneously taking Americans' jobs and living off welfare. Once we were led to believe that Trump would only target the "worst of the worst." Now, Trump wants to target any migrant from a nation that he considers to be third world. Moreover, not only recent migrants, but green card holders and even those who have gained citizenship. None of this is fitting for an American president.

It is not just that Trump has become little more than a demented fool. It is not just that he espouses racism and misogyny on a regular basis. Those in themselves are enough to make Trump unfit for the job. But a larger problem is that by promoting White nationalism, Trump is tearing apart the fabric of American society. It was not all that long ago, historically, that hundreds of thousands of Irish fled the famine in their country to seek new lives in America. Many ended up living in slums attempting to eke out a living. They were near universally derided as being drunks and criminals whose loyalty was suspect due to their religion. History is repeating itself today.

Another aspect of Trump's misguided actions is that he is sending a dangerous message to those who might be tempted to side with America against their own governments: America will not stand by you. Most immediately, any Venezuelans who might think that joining the U.S. to oust President Nicolás Maduro is a good idea should understand that Trump will abandon them the second that it is in his interest to do so. Do not expect your service to Trump to be rewarded.

Trump is unfit to be President. He acts more like a 4Chan troll than America's highest-ranking elected official. He does not deserve to represent our country. MAGA cultists, which includes most of today's Republican Party and Republican elected officials, with help from the media, are unwilling to confront the reality of Trump's reduced cognitive state. Trump Administration officials take advantage of Trump's condition to implement their own plans. We are far past the point in which all of this could be considered harmless. Our country faces grave dangers and the threat starts at the top.
