This Weekend's Most Active Threads
Pit bulls, Furries, and a housekeeper gone rogue. I'd almost rather not know which threads were popular this weekend.
Today I'll look back at the most active threads over the weekend. There is an Internet security company that has used the slogan, "View your data, wish that you didn't". I sort of feel that way looking at this weekend's popular threads which covered some rather esoteric topics.
Leading in both views and replies over the weekend was a thread in the "Pets" forum titled, "Two children killed by family pet". The thread discusses the tragic killing of two children by the family's pet pit bulls. As is true for a some other forums on DCUM, the Pets forum has developed in ways that we never expected when it was created. It tends to be dominated by debates about breeders and arguments about pit bulls. Because the original poster of this thread advocated that pit bulls be banned, the thread is mostly a debate about such a ban. Opponents and defenders of pit bulls are equally vehement about their positions and more than willing to repeat the same points endlessly. So, this thread may never end unless I eventually lock it.
Another top thread titled, "Furries at Pumpkin Patch" was posted in the "Off-Topic" forum. As I understand it — which is very little — the "furry" subculture is fairly expansive with many aspects. However, to the extent people are aware of the phenomenon, they tend to focus on furry fans dressing in elaborate animal costumes. Recently, several Republican politicians have fallan for hoaxes that convinced them that schools are filled with students identifying as cats and are being provided with litter boxes. DCUM itself has had, dare I say, a flurry of fury posts recently. Most are obvious troll attempts that I have removed. This thread, which may also be someone's idea of a joke, tells of the OP's visit to an unidentified pumpkin patch where her children encountered two furries. I've only glanced at the thread because I am a little afraid of extraocular muscular damage caused by the extreme eye rolling reading the thread would likely provoke. But, in addition to defenses of the rights of furries, several posters noted that pumpkins are associated with Halloween, a holiday that involves dressing in costumes.
The final thread I'll look at today was second in number of views over the weekend and fourth in number of replies. Titled, "Housekeeper doing her laundry at our house", it was posted in the "Off-Topic" forum. The original poster describes her family's longtime housekeeper's habit of doing her laundry when she comes to clean the house and taking any leftover food that is available. All of this is apparently done without permission. A particular point of contention was the nicking of a box of pastries that left one child without a pastry. If all the responders were in agreement, the thread would likely have died an early death. But since it has been quite active, we can assume that the housekeeper has both defenders and detractors. However, I confess to not sharing the seemingly widespread interest in this topic so I'm not going to read it to find out.
