Yesterday's Most Active Threads

Yesterday's threads with the most engagement addressed food hacks, safety schools, divorce, and the attention given by another woman to a poster's husband.

Today we will look at yesterday's threads with the most engagement. Leading in both number of replies and number of views was a thread in the "Food, Cooking, and Restaurants" forum titled, "Food hacks to deal with rising food prices/inflation". As usual, I haven't read the thread but I did skim a few pages just to make sure that it hadn't turned into a huge fight about whether stay at home moms are better cooks than work out of the house moms or something along those lines. As best I can tell, the thread avoided such arguments though there does appear to be a brief foray into an accusation of sexism by a poster who is proud to describe her enviable financial situation. Be that as it may, the Food forum has proven to be a good source of cooking ideas and, for the most part, avoids the negativity that is unfortunately common in other forums.

Second in both views and relies was a thread titled, "Safeties for a strong student" in the "College and University Discussion" forum. Again, I haven't read the thread but, based on a quick perusal of a few posts, much of it is arguing about what schools are considered "safeties". The "College and University Discussion" has somewhat surprisingly emerged as one of the most negative forums on the website. A combination of fixations on Ivy League universities and apparently long-held grievances against specific schools lead to quite a bit of toxic discussion.

A thread titled, "When friends start divorcing.." in the "Relationship Discussion (non-explicit)" forum was third in number of replies and fourth in number of views. But just as I was about to look at it for this blog post, someone reported a post in the thread saying that the poster had completely derailed it. When I reviewed that post, it turned out to be the start of an argument about who is or is not an "aunt" or "uncle". Many of the following posts dealt with those terms and whether or not "anglos" were capable of understanding how they are used in other communities (FYI, we are). After I removed those off-topic posts, the thread was no longer even in the top 10 threads with the most replies.

The last thread I'll mention today is titled, "Feeling uneasy about DH’s interactions with another woman" which is also in the "Relationship Discussion (non-explicit)" forum. No surprise, I haven't read this thread either and even skimming it didn't give me a very good sense of its content. As best I can tell, it is a combination of "trust your gut" responses and tales by other women about their own lusts for married men. That forum has a strong contingent of "Men's Rights Activist (MRA)" posters whose responses are as predictable as they are lamentable. But, thankfully, they don't appear to have shown up in this thread so far.
