by admin last modified Sep 18, 2015 11:06 PM
It's Fire Prevention Week! Do You Know How to Protect Your Family? In conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, Vienna Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Open House on Saturday, October 10th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. 400 Center St S, Vienna Do you know what YOU can do to minimize injury and damage while waiting for first responders to arrive? Critical steps you take in the first few minutes can make a significant difference!
Join us during our Open House to find out what you and your family can do! There will be a wide array of activities and displays for adults and children, including how to prevent fires and other mishaps, and what critical steps to take in an emergency. Learn about other aspects of safety, including how to prepare for and prevent different types of emergencies, pet safety and bike safety. You can tour our fire engines and ambulances, try on firefighter and EMS gear, and check out commonly used tools to see how we do our job. Plus, we will have a variety of fun family activities, including a moon bounce, kids coloring corner, and snacks provided by the VVFD Auxiliary. This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is: Hear The Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm! When it comes to smoke alarms, it’s about “location, location, location.” The key message of this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign is to install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home, including the basement. Larger homes may need more alarms. For more info, visit VVFD’s Open House or see: http://www.nfpa.org/safety-information/fire-prevention-week All Fairfax County Fire Stations will be holding an Open House on Saturday, October 10th. If you cannot join us at VVFD, please consider visiting one of our other fire stations. To find the one nearest you, check: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/fr/deptinfo/stations.htm
