Hearst’s Annual E-cycle and Swap Spot is scheduled for Saturday, November 1st from 9am to 1pm. The Hearst E-cycle is a broader green, health, and community event that provides a place for people to recycle old electronics, batteries, computers, and the like. But it is so much more than that. It is also an opportunity for us to remind our children to reduce re-use and recycle. At the E-cycle folks can find:
Electronics Recycling sponsored by Potomac E-scrap
Document shredding and recycling by Eco Shred ($5 per box suggested donation)
Computer hard drive crushing ($10 fee)
Gently used children’s book sale sponsored by our Hearst librarian, Elizabeth Vandivier
The Bike Swap and new this year Sporting Equipment Swap
The Electronics Swap Table
Come see what Whole Foods, Tenleytown is cooking up for the Holidays
Family Yoga Sessions by sponsored by Lil Omm Yoga (9:30am and 10am)
The DC Diaper Bank Table (donation drop off)
Delicious PTA-Hosted bake sale items
The Amorini Panini Food Truck ready to serve you breakfast or lunch
And much more…

But for the E-cycle to be a success, we need your help!
Not only do we need volunteers throughout the day, but over the next few weeks please take a look around you home and identify items that are no longer needed and can be donated to this event rather than thrown out. Items such as:
Children’s Books (please box/bag up and place outside the library door)
Electronics (start a pile to bring out the day of the event- see acceptable items)
Bikes, adult’s and children’s for the Swap (bring them the day of the event or contact us at hearstecycle@gmail.com)
Old or Unused Sporting equipment (extra soccer balls, basketballs, soccer cleats, baseball mitts, lacrosse gear, uniforms, camping equipment, etc- contact us at hearstecycle@gmail.com)
Donate something sweet to eat to the bake sale table
Donate toiletries and snack bars to our homeless community (Ms. Beech and Mrs. Wendt will be collecting travel sized toiletries at a designated table)
And of course, please tell a friend and bring a friend.
