A story of love and land, of winning friendships and having the courage to believe in your dreams. 11-year-old Chesca O'Brien, Howth's greatest (and only) Trick Rider plans to ride Malley, the farm's wild stallion, and put on a show no one will forget - especially show jumping champion, Mary Murphy. But then her Ma gets sick and Da stops talking, which leaves the farmyard wide open to all kinds of problems. Inspired by Ireland's most famous Pirate Queen, Grace O'Malley, Chesca must take on the might of a developer, rally a town, and fight the fight of her life to save all she holds dear. An Irish tale of talking animals, a magical mountain and galloping sideways. Author Lara O'Brien will sign her book following the event. This is a ticketed event. You must reserve by clicking on the link below. The National Press Club is located at 529 14th Street, 13th floor, Washington, D.C. This event is open to the public. You do not need to be a Club member to attend. A la carte brunch is available following the event at the Fourth Estate restaurant. The restaurant will serve kid-friendly, Irish foods including Bubble and Squeak and green pancakes.
