RFK Peace Park is a one-day event to commemorate the life of Robert Francis Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his death. It will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, beginning at noon. The location is a small park located at First and C Street N.E – just behind the Russell Senate Office building. This event is free and will be held rain or shine.
RFK Peace Park will consist of 2 parts. The first part, from noon to 6 pm, will have representatives from 5 gun control and/or human rights organizations distributing their materials and speaking with passersby about their particular cause or issue. Each group will have one hour and will leave literature at the table after their time is up.
The second part, a “Luminary Folk-Sing”, will begin at 7 pm. It will feature live and recorded music, singing, and speakers. Wristbands, remembrance cards, and glow sticks will be distributed to those in attendance at this folk-sing. Barring rain, this should be a fun event.
