OSSE is hosting a FREE K-12 conference on best practices in education for parents, families, educators, and the community. Workshop sessions will include information from noted experts in education on topics such as the Common Core and transitioning to PARCC, early literacy support, support for struggling learners, and more. Exhibits will include resources that support positive learning and growth for all learners.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education is pleased to announce its annual conference on best practices in education for parents, families, educators, and the community. The 2-day event will be held on May 1-2, 2015, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in downtown Washington, DC.
During the institute, participants will select from over 100 workshop sessions and will experience exhibits and resources on topics including:
• Instruction and the Common Core
• STEM and the Next Generation Science Standards
• Positive Behavior Supports
• Special Education
• English Language Learners
• Educator Effectiveness
• Early Childhood
• Parent and Family Engagement (including sessions for parents/families, as well as LEA staff)
Table displays will also include information and resources on:
• Early Childhood
• Summer Camps
Note: Parents and families are strongly encouraged to attend Saturday, as most workshop and exhibits will be more parent-centered on that day.
