In the DC metro area, one in five students is dyslexic, and three in five students read below the level of proficiency. Academic success requires direct instruction in reading and spelling, along with powerful tools for self-advocacy. For parents, knowledge is key, as is becoming empowered and active. So please join us for an afternoon of information-sharing, support, and community-building:
-Watch the documentary, "Being You"
-Experience a dyslexia simulation
-Become more knowledgeable about interpreting testing results and IEPs
-Learn about intervention options
-Hear how a panel of young dyslexics overcame their challenges
-Meet your local leaders and members of Decoding Dyslexia Virginia, Decoding Dyslexia Maryland, and the DC Capital Area Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.

Join the movement to restore to our local school systems the structured literacy practices that will ensure all students learn to read proficiently. Meaningful change is within our reach if we take the next steps.
Dyslexia is real. The solutions exist.
