The highlight of the concert will be the Washington, DC premiere of Calling All Dawns, a twelve movement song cycle, in twelve different languages, by Grammy award-winning, Chinese-American composer Christopher Tin. His ground-breaking and unparalleled masterwork is inspired by musical traditions from every corner of our planet. The texts are drawn from a variety of sources, both sacred and secular, including Japanese haiku, Portuguese poetry, Maori proverbs, the Torah, the Latin Mass, and the Bhagavad Gita. It is a lush pulsating, and cinematic musical adventure. Higher Plain Music called it "pure and absolute musical hedonism!" Come explore new musical horizons as we celebrate music without borders!
