The Troublemakers of the National Woman's Party
Join Susan Philpott from the National Park Service for an engaging discussion of the confrontational campaigns developed by Alice Paul, Lucy Burns, and the National Woman's Party in the fight for women's right to vote. Although best known for picketing the White House, for which many women were arrested and imprisoned at Occoquan Workhouse, the NWP used many different strategies to win support for a constitutional amendment enfranchising women. Susan is a park ranger at Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument in Washington, D.C., the historic headquarters of the National Woman's Party.
