iPad Apps and Websites to Support Reading and Spelling Instruction This session will demonstrate how to use iPad apps to teach foundational skills including: letter identification, handwriting, phonemic awareness, decoding and spelling phonetically regular and high frequency (sight) words. iPad Apps and Websites to Support Systematic and Explicit Math Instruction Children who struggle with math often have a combination of difficulties, including language concepts and memory. These students benefit from instruction that is explicit and systematic, with ample time for review to strengthen and free-up memory for higher-level problem solving. This session will present apps and websites that support instruction and mastery of foundational math skills, including number sense and computation in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division within a predictable and organized lesson format. iPad Apps to Support Vocabulary, Comprehension and Writing Instruction Comprehensive literacy instruction integrates systematic instruction in both foundational skills and text comprehension within academic content areas. This session will investigate iPad apps for vocabulary, morphology, text comprehension and writing skills. The presenter will demonstrate strategies to support language skills using a variety of apps, including drawing, flashcard and mind-mapping apps. Morning coffee and refreshments and lunch will be provided. After you register, you will receive a list of iPad apps you can download prior to the workshop.
