Developing Executive Function (EF) skills is a challenge for so many struggling learners. When the learning environment suddenly changes to remote, then hybrid, then remote again, the EF challenges can seem insurmountable. All of the cues we inherently rely on from our standard in-person school day routine from the whiteboard reminders to the hallway/lunch conversations are suddenly gone. The imposed structure of the school building/classrooms are no longer available to help keep the brain focused and priorities clear. Learn strategies to improve your child’s executive function skills for the current times–and provide a stronger foundation for the future.
In addition to executive function, the current situation requires flexibility/adaptability, grit, contingency planning, and much more. While what is being asked of our children is a tall order, this experience is helping them to develop skills that they will use for the rest of their lives!
