DCPS' Oyster-Adams Bilingual School holds its annual bilingual book fair, Monday, November 10 through November 17. This event features Spanish, English, and bilingual texts at all reading levels for children and youth and over 500 titles originally published in Spanish. Dates and Hours for the Oyster-Adams Bilingual Book Fair: Monday, 11/10: 8AM - 8PM Tuesday, 11/11: School & Fair closed for Veterans Day Wednesday - Friday, 11/12 - 11/14: 8AM - 8PM Saturday, 11/15: 10AM - 4PM Monday, 11/17: 8AM - 4PM SPECIAL (FREE) FAMILY EVENTS @ BOOK FAIR 1) Wednesday, 11/12 @6:30pm: "Animals at the Book Fair"- Walter the Critterdude and his Great-Horned Owl "Bubo" and 20 yr-old Rat/Pine Snake "Gregory". 2) Friday, 11/14 @6:30pm: "Baseball Night at the Book Fair"- Fred Frommer, OA parent and author of "You Gotta Have Heart: The History of Washington Baseball from 1859 to the 2012 National League East Champions" will be reading and signing books, preceded by Little League Players reciting the classic "Casey at the Bat" by Earnest Lawrence Thayer. 3) Saturday, 11/15 @11:00am: "Bilingual Storytime at the Book Fair" - Local authors, Eileen Wasow presenting "Ana's Day/ El día de Ana" and Frida Larios presenting "La Aldea que fue Sepultada por un Volcán en Erupción/ The Village that was Buried by an Erupting Volcano”. Both authors will read and sign books. ***** Fechas y horas de la Feria Bilingüe Del Libro: Lunes, 10 de Noviembre: 8AM - 8PM Martes, 11 de Noviembre: Cerrado Miercoles - Viernes, 12 - 14 de Noviembre:8AM - 8PM Sabado, 15 de Noviembre: 10AM - 4PM Lunes, 17 de Noviembre: 8AM - 4PM EVENTOS ESPECIALES EN LA FERIA DEL LIBRO 1) Miércoles 12 de noviembre, 6:30 pm: Animales En La Feria Del Libro - Walter "El Hombre De Las Criaturas" con "Bubo" su búho cornudo y "Gregory" su serpiente de 20 años. 2) Viernes 14 de noviembre, 6:30 pm: Noche De Béisbol En La Feria Del Libro – Fred Frommer, un padre de OA y autor de "Tienes que tener corazón: La historia del béisbol de Washington desde 1859 hasta los Campeones de la Liga Nacional del Este" hará una lectura y firmará sus libros. Posteriormente, jugadores de Pequeñas Ligas recitarán el poema clásico de Earnest Lawrence Thayer, "Casey en el Bate". 3) Sábado 15 de noviembre, 11:00 am: Hora De Cuentos Bilingües En La Feria Del Libro - Tendremos dos autoras locales. Eileen Wasow presentará "El Día De Ana / Ana’s Day", y Frida Larios presentará "La Aldea Que Fue Sepultada Por Un Volcan En Erupción / The Village That Was Buried By An Erupting Volcano". Las autoras estarán leyendo y firmando sus libros.
