Please join the D.C. Women’s Bar Association and the D.C. Affairs Section of the D.C. Bar for an engaging and informative lunchtime discussion on the new Common Core standards! The Common Core standards aim to define the math and language arts skills that students nationwide should acquire during their K-12 education. The D.C. public school system was among the first to adopt the Common Core standards, which have now been adopted by almost every state in the country, and the standards have many supporters. At the same time, some educators, teachers, and parents have expressed concern about the quality, implementation, and impact of student testing based on the standards.
We are fortunate to have four experienced educators and administrators joining us to discuss Common Core, its implementation in D.C. classrooms, and the opportunities and challenges they see ahead. This is a must for any parent with a child in D.C. public or charter schools!
Lunch will be generously provided by Finnegan.
You do NOT need to be a lawyer or a member of either the Women’s Bar Association or the D.C. Bar to attend the event!
