I am Lindsey Schreiber, Certified Personal Trainer and group fitness instructor at Elite Bodies—In the Woodmoor Shopping Center. I’m here to talk to you about changing the stigma around the postpartum body and the “bounce back” notion. As a mother of two, I empathize with the struggles we have with our postpartum bodies. Close to 60% of postpartum women have Diastasis Recti (a fancy name for muscle separation in the abdomen) 6 months after giving birth and 35% have a DR well beyond the first year mark. For many, the most common effects of DR are discomfort in the lower back and abdomen, weak pelvic floor muscles, and the well known “mummy tummy”. We will walk through everything you need to know and do to get you back and feeling stronger than ever. Attending our classes twice weekly, you will be participating in challenges, weekly take home “Core Correction” workouts, and be given all the extras to insure you’re progressing in the right direction. After extensive research, I have come out with an 8 week restorative program. My approach is aimed at correcting the muscles lining our pelvic floors and the deep abdominals. The introductory phase of this program will build a strong foundation by stabilizing and strengthening. We will also document your progression through a physical check-in with a certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). These check-ins will be at the beginning, 4 week mark, and at the end of the 8 weeks to ensure you’re meeting your goals. You will be 1 of only 10 mothers attending our classes, participating in challenges, weekly take home “Core Correction” workouts, and many other exciting activities!
