After their marriage on January 6, 1758, George Washington brought his bride, Martha, and her two young children to Mount Vernon for the first time on April 7, 1759. During this reenactment of their arrival, witness the family travel from the West Gate to the Mansion in a horse-drawn carriage, crossing the 12-Acre Field where Martha Washington glimpses her new home for the first time. When they arrive at the Mansion's front steps, Colonel Washington introduces his bride.
The young couple visits with guests on the piazza before Lady Washington greets guests in the Interpretive Center from 3-4:30pm.
