Children & Adults Invited to One-Day Painting Contest

The Montgomery Art Association invites DC-area children and adults to join our one-day plein air painting competition in Kensington, Maryland on Saturday, September 3. The contest is part of MAA’s annual Paint the Town Labor Day show. For the competition, dozens of artists participate, populating such spots as the Kensington farmers market at the historic train station, Antiques Row, the Noyes Children’s Library, and Kennedy-Clum Garden to make their works. It's great fun just to stroll around town and see them. You will have from 7 am-3 pm to complete a work of art within the boundaries of Kensington and the turn it in for judging. Judge Lenny Campello—a renowned DC contemporary artist—will award prizes to the top youth and adult artists during a reception that evening. You may also opt to mark your work for sale at our three-day Paint the Town Labor Day Show. The competition is free for children under 18 and $10 for adults.
