TO APPEAR AT WALT WHITMAN HIGH SCHOOL
Sunday March 8, 2015, 7:00PM
A FUNdraising show supporting Whitman's Post Prom
The Capitol Steps, a group of former Hill staffers who turn the latest political fiascoes and foibles into hilarious song parodies and skits, will perform their one-of-a-kind show at Walt Whitman High School at 7:00PM on Sunday, March 8, 2015. The award-winning comedy troubadours are bipartisan equal-opportunity offenders who take on both sides of the political spectrum, and they always feature the latest headlines for the freshest, up-to-the-minute satire. Incompetence in office never goes out of practice!! The shows are appropriate for teens and up (the closest they have come to using profanity was mentioning Anthony Weiner).
The Capitol Steps have been a Washington, DC institution for over thirty years and have appeared on “The Today Show,” “Nightline,” “CBS Evening News” and for many years in specials for National Public Radio. Their show is constantly changing, strenuously bi-partisan, and includes songs about everything in the news, including “guest appearances” by people such as Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin, Marco Rubio, Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell, Bono, Pope Francis, Kate Middleton, Chris Christie, and of course President Obama.
All proceeds from the March 8th show at Walt Whitman High School will support the Whitman Post Prom. Post Prom was started by parents, students and faculty of Whitman as a way to keep the students and neighborhoods safe in the hours after Prom. With the funds raised by this performance and through the dedicated work of many parent and student volunteers, the Post Prom tradition will continue in 2015.
The Whitman campus features plenty of free parking and is just a short drive from anywhere in Bethesda: 7100 Whittier Blvd, Bethesda, MD 20817.
