Auditions for the play "Abdication!" at Silver Spring Stage: 10/15 and 10/17

Performance Dates: January 26 – February 11, 2024 (Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm) Synopsis: Abdication! is a dystopian triptych of one-act plays that delve into a future where society grapples with technology, love, and identity. Content Advisory: Flashing lights/strobe effects and adult language. Though this is not a musical, there will be singing and dancing which is primarily is confined to the Narrator and valet roles. Actors who sing: Prepare an upbeat song, a cappella or with recorded music (90 seconds max). Actors who dance: Show a short dance routine (60-90 seconds) to upbeat recorded music. Actors who sing & dance: Present both talents simultaneously (60-90 seconds to upbeat music). Actors with portable instruments: Bring your instrument and perform a 60-90 second piece of your choice. Pianists: Bring your own sheet music and play a 60-90 second upbeat piece. All roles are open to any race and ethnicity. Headshot or a recent, high-quality close-up photograph. COVID-19 Guidelines: For the auditions, masks are optional. Rehearsals: Held approximately four times a week, on weeknights and weekends. Scheduled based on cast availability. Tech rehearsals begin January 20, 2024. Brush-up rehearsals on Thursday evenings before Friday performances. Cast is required at all director and stage manager called rehearsals unless previously communicated. Full availability is needed for tech, dress rehearsals, performances, and brush-ups.
