Shop at DC Whole Foods Markets to support Arts and Humanities for DC Every Student!
5% of all proceeds on September 20th will go directly to supporting arts and humanities field-trips for DCPS and DCPCS students!
On Wednesday, September 20th, 2017, the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative is partnering with all four DC Whole Foods Market locations (Tenleytown, NW, P Street NW, Foggy Bottom NW, and H Street NE-- all day and night -- for a Whole Foods Market Community Giving Day. During this time, 5% of each store's daily profits (including catering sales!) will go directly to our AHFES Fund to provide field-trip transportation for DCPS and DCPCS students!
DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative works with more than 100 arts and humanities organizations in Washington, DC-- from The Kennedy Center to the National Gallery of Art, to coordinate and provide transportation and tickets -- equitable access -- to our nation's premiere cultural venues.
In a city with an abundance of cultural assets there is no reason DCPS and DCPCS students should not have opportunities to equitably explore the arts and humanities. We owe them equitable access and the opportunity to learn and grow, as well as discover potential arts and humanities-related careers.
For 20 years, the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative (DC Collaborative,) has worked with its members to provide over 600,000 DC students access to see their first ballet, hear their first opera, visit a museum for the first time, or attend their first play. Aided by pre and post educational materials and teacher training, these students are not only excited but they are engaged and inspired. It is proven children become better strategic thinkers and active community citizens and are more empathic as a result of these cultural experiences. Last year, more than 35,000 students from all 8 Wards of the District were able to visit our member institutions.
