It’s time to get your paws on some pawpaws! Meadowside Nature Center will celebrate this delightful native fruit with music, crafts, games, expert advice on pawpaw cultivation, and most importantly a pawpaw tasting station. We’ll have pawpaw fruit and trees for purchase. But most importantly, what's a pawpaw? This native fruit has a tropical, electric taste. Its exterior flesh is green and very unassuming, but the insides are pale yellow, with dark brown seeds in the center.

Free Drop-In Community Art Project

Looking for a creative activity to get and do with the kids while staying cool this month? Stop by the Kentlands Mansion from August 14-17 between 9am and 3pm to help create a one-of-a-kind art project. This free project is for 2-12 year olds and their parents. Outline and paint your hands to help create the City’s tree logo and paint a picture or message on rocks to place around Gaithersburg using the #GaithersburgRocks hashtag. Get active and explore the grounds and history of Kentlands Mansion with a scavenger hunt. Call the Mansion at 301-258-6425 for more information. See you at the Mansion!

Beat the summer heat and join us for a morning of bowling with Pike & Rose’s newest neighbor, Pinstripes! Reserve your spot at 10am or 11am and let your kids try their skills at the newest lanes around. Kids will enjoy a fun activity and a chance to bowl. Recommended for kids ages 6-12. Please note, you will be sharing the lanes with other PIKEkids.
