Come Learn How Dual Language Programs Can Help Your Child’s Achievement. What: Dual Language is an educational program in which students are taught reading and grade level content in two languages. In most Dual Language programs, students spend ½ the day learning in English and ½ the day learning in a non-English language. Examples of schools with dual language programs include Oyster-Adams Bilingual School, Powell Elementary School, Tyler Elementary School, and Cleveland Elementary School Why: Students learn to speak, read, and write in another language. Students’ achievements are at similar levels or higher than those enrolled in monolingual programs. Students gain a global perspective that prepares them for a global world. Refreshments will be served. Children are welcome. Co-sponsored with DC Language Immersion Project and the Ward 7 Education Council

The Children's Art Studio will hold a Workshop this Friday May 1st. DCPS will be closed on this day. Class will take place from 9-2. The cost for the day is $95. We will meet at Capital Memorial Church at 3150 Chesapeake Street. This is a class for children five (5) years old and up. Small class size, thoughtful instruction and the inventive use of high quality materials is what it is all about. Rockville Community Nursery School's 36th Annual Yellow Balloon Fair! Now in its 36th year, our Yellow Balloon Fair is Rockville’s premier fair for preschoolers, and fun for the whole family. Co-sponsored by the City of Rockville Recreation and Parks Department, the fair features pony rides, little-kid-friendly games, a bake sale, a used book sale, a moon bounce and much, much more. Come rain or shine! Admission, pony watching, swinging on our swings, playing on the playground and generally hanging out with us are free! For food, tickets [for games, pony rides and the moon bounce], books and the bake sale you will need cash. In conjunction with our fair, we offer a wonderful Silent Auction. Businesses and families from throughout our community donate fantastic items to bid on, and all funds raised from the auction go toward much-needed items for our school. Please spread the word.
