Why should they give you free advice?

Because nannies are generous people who care about all children.

You, on the other hand PP, are ugly and withered.

Because OP isn’t the only one who is going to run out of ideas. If we all make a list together, we can try different things.

-bath (finger)paint
bathe after using in the the dry tub

-peanut butter play dough
who cares how much goes in the mouth

-edible cookie dough
Same, who cares how much they eat

-Make huge swirl crayons
you need paper cups or cookie/cupcake tins, crazy shapes get a bonus! Peel broken crayons. let them choose which pieces to put in where. Bake at 150, let cool. Either peel off the paper cup or freeze the tin.

-ink printing/painting/fingerprinting with old sponges
We’re using more sponges due to more cleaning, so this is a good use when I’m not comfortable cleaning with them anymore.

-making stone soup

-scavenger hunt in the house, yard, around the neighborhood, on a trail, etc

-make paper chains, paper dolls, placemats, etc and decorate the kids’ rooms (house, if allowed)

-make pinwheels

-make pudding for finger painting

-obstacle course

-limbo

-batting balloons through the air

-blowing under tissues to keep them airborne

-twister

-mosaics (random bits of colored paper glued to white)

-build a fort

-water relay (backyard)

-drawing on windows with washable markers, followed by washing windows

-Simon says

-paper airplanes

Are there any other outdoor spaces you can go to? The weather has been gorgeous.

It’s been raining here in LA this week and these are a few things I did inside with my 17 month old charge:

-made “Lava Monsters”. A mound of baking soda in a pan and colored vinegar in squeeze containers. He loved it!

- handmade corn starch and haircut conditioner playdough. So much softer than store-bought for little hands.

- soapy-foamy finger painting. I spread out those huge sheets of paper and take him down to his diaper and let him explore.

- made percussion instruments out of kitchen utensils and bowls.

We also went outside looking for “treasures” and jumped in puddles!

We’ve been spending so much time reading since the stay-at-home order which has been great for him.

My charge isn’t happy being inside at home much anymore. We run around outside first thing in the morning for two hours but our local park/green space is too crowded in the afternoon. I need some fresh ideas!

Thank you!
