I'm off half Thursday and all day Friday. If you are supposed to get holidays off per your contract or what was agreed upon hiring, then you should have Friday off.

I'm on a work trip and brought the kids and nanny with me. We'll be working Friday.

Your contact should list which national or federal holidays are off for you, and then both sides enforce the contract. These terms are regardless of vacations of either party.

For example, my bosses are not Fed gov't employees and have stipulated I get 4 holidays off a year: Dec 25, Jan 1, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

They end up taking off long weekends here and there plus this July 3rd, plus they take 4-6 weeks off for vacation and give me 3-4 months heads up on those dates so I can travel too or find side jobs.

I'm off. DB works in the private sector but gets fed holidays off. MB is a nurse and she's working.

Or if you have to work on Friday, your bosses should give you an add'l day off but still pay you for it since it would equal a paid working holiday.

Well if it is on your contract that you are supposed to get ALL Federal holidays off WITH PAY, then you are surely entitled to Friday off w/pay. It is not your fault that Independence Day will fall on a weekend day this year.

OP here.. Similar situation. She owns a business and he's a lawyer. I know his office is closed on the 3rd. I will ask and see how things fall. I will say in my past positions if any holiday has fallen in a Saturday I am normally off on Friday. If for some reason I worked I was paid time and a half for those hours.

Off on Friday. No one here is a federal employee.

You will only get July 3 off (Friday) if your employer works for the federal government. Sorry...

I am still working because my MB/DB have to work.
If the 4th fell on a weekday this year, I'd be off paid.
That's how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Hi-

How many nannies are working Friday or will receive the day off for the holiday? I am to have the 4th off but it's a Saturday, I'm aware most are off on Friday? I need to address this with my employers but curious To if others were working. Thanks all!
