WTH is a 24/7 nanny? An adoptive parent? If indeed this person is expected to work 24/7 and not sleep at a wink, then poor soul. She must have an absolute need to spend hours on DCUM monitoring all these messages as personal business that absolutely must be done during paid work hours. Otherwise, all personal business is to be done during nap time, by sleeping 10 minute less, or not having an active social life that you need to be on the phone instead of watching the charges you get paid to watch at the playground. Period. No excuses.
Hmm, in my case, it's the mother figure, homeschooling teacher and household manager all rolled into 1. I wake up at 5.45 to start the day, but my family isn't up yet, so I can't check in then. I finish my day sometime after 10pm, and two of the kids don't sleep through the night every night. My grandmother is in bed by 9pm most nights. The youngest child naps every once in a while, but it's not guaranteed. And I'm perfectly capable of making a call and watching children at the park.
