Someone should pay them to mind their own kids. Then it'd be a "real" job?

She must have an absolute need to spend hours on DCUM monitoring all these messages as personal business that absolutely must be done during paid work hours.
Otherwise, all personal business is to be done during nap time, by sleeping 10 minute less, or not having an active social life that you need to be on the phone instead of watching the charges you get paid to watch at the playground. Period. No excuses.

Watching a child attentively and/or engaging them is not "breathing down their necks", PP. Just get off your damn phone and do your job. The rationalizations of lazy nannies are so obvious.
Why would you not allow children to engage themselves a bit,
on a daily basis?
You really need to study up on this.
The thought of these children being raised by parents and nannies who never ever text or place a phone call when the children are awake scares me. Imagine how selfish these children will become once they are adults and learn omg the world is not all about me every second of the day. Thankfully my employers agree and think a phone call or text here or there is fine. I as well work 24/7 it is a different game in my opinion when you literally go weeks without being off work. Not all children nap especially at the same time when your dealing with 3-4 children all day long. texting my mom everyday to let her know I'm alive is not neglecting my charges.
Such nonsense. Teacher teach all day without using their phones. Most nurses work all shift without using their phones. You have a job that involves the care and welfare of innocent children - your job is to watch them and make sure they are safe at a MINIMUM.
Your rationalizations for using your phone when you are working are truly ludicrous. I have a life, I have personal business, and yet I always manage to make my FEW business calls when my charges are safe in the home and under my supervision. And I mean FEW calls - less than once a week - to set up dentist, doctors, mechanics, cable guys, etc. I do not even call my husband when I am working.
You are a ridiculous, childish girl, PP. And a disgrace and embarrassment to true nannies.

Either you are making up a ridiculous excuse for why you are constantly on your phone or your employers do not trust you at all.

Ahahah, what a hoot! What a twisted hoot!
Hope you say that $hit at your next interview: I believe you are paying me to talk on my phone, browse the internet, and text so your young children learn how important I am and my phone, and that they are not the center of the universe.
Ha! Quickly texting your boss once or twice a day is NOT sitting at the playground or gym utterly engrossed in your smartphone.

Yes, I know what she is saying. There are lots of nannies not paying attention who should.
I have been the mom at the playground playing with my kids actively. Yes, kids flock to me. I can easily stop it if I decide to stop playing with my kid for 2 minutes and take a rest at the bench. Kids go away. It can be easily managed. If a kid really stalked her from station to station, then it must've been a rare instance and she does not need to make a PSA about it.
She has other problems than nannies not paying attention to their charges if she is so irresistible to kids that she can do absolutely nothing to keep the other kids from flocking to her.
