MB here. We asked our nanny to agree to get a flu shot each year and she also takes our DS to get one. No issues with this whatsoever, i think she understands the importance. Interestingly, she last worked at a preschool and they didn't require these vaccinations, which I think is weird, but not my issue. We are expecting a newborn soon so I'm going to ask if she will update her TDAP. I would be happy to pay if it's going to cost a significant amount, but hopefully not as she has insurance. I would not hire a nanny who refused vaccinations, both for health reasons and because it reflects a lack of critical thinking I would not want my children to grow up on. But it sounds like there are some MBs on this board who are also antivaxx. I oppose this, but perhaps the nannies who feel the same way would be most comfortable working for someone of this persuasion.
That's interesting. Critical thinking involves researching the risks and benefits of each vaccine, and getting or declining based on your personal health history and risk. Non-critical thinking is blindly doing what your doctor says. I feel sorry for your children.
I'm not sure why you think I blindly do what my doctor says, as there is nothing in my post to indicate this. I actually have several doctors and I myself am a doctor, so I would say I am fairly well informed, and use current medical literature in making this and other medical decisions. I'm not sure why I'm wasting time responding to your petty bizarre insults, but in all of our cases, there are no counter indications to vaccinations. I am also aware that studies showing that vaccines cause autism, etc., are fraudulent and that with the except of very rare side effects vaccines are extremely safe and the benefit of the risk. My nanny shares these opinions and had she considered otherwise would not have taken the job with our family. I consider failed critical thinking skills believing completely discredited, fraudulent studies, which are the only ones that have implicated vaccines in the kinds of effects that usually "scare" people. Yes, there are immunocompromised patients (or those with very particular allergies) for whom some vaccines are counterindicated. As I said, that does not apply to our family, or to most people. It was therefore not useful to mention that. I'm really not sure what
