I'm a nanny and have never been required to have a vaccination. I voluntarily got the tdap two years ago (and was really miserable for a few days after, got all the side effects) but I will not get the flu shot. Every year I've gotten it, I've been horribly sick ALL winter. The years I don't get it, I get a cold or two and that's it. It's happened enough I'm comfortable with my decision not to get vaccinated against the flu.
A cold is not the flu. Being "horribly sick" is not the flu unless you were testing and the culture came back positive. It is simply coincidence.
I never said I had the flu. I said I got sick...EVERY SINGLE YEAR I HAD THE SHOT and didn't get sick the years I didn't get the shot. I think it's more than coincidence. I may not have gotten the flu, or maybe I did. Don't know. I but I did get pneumonia every year with the shot. Weird, but if avoiding the shot keeps me healthier, then I'll avoid the shot. It's not rocket science.
