The fact that you have a problem with that questions your life choices far more than mine.
I don't always like what I read online but I also don't have any emotional attachment to other peoples opinions. Your standard for whether someone is ignorant is whether they agree with you. Rather then accepting that your opinions are both personal and fallible you seem bent on attacking everyone who has a different perspective with judgement and snobbery. If you are well educated then it should be enough to let the facts stand on their on. You have not shared any facts, only indignant and baseless judgements about other peoples intellectual capacity because they dare disagree with you. PP, re-evaluate your life. Something is not right, but this is not the place to work that out.

I may not have gotten the flu, or maybe I did. Don't know. I but I did get pneumonia every year with the shot. Weird, but if avoiding the shot keeps me healthier, then I'll avoid the shot. It's not rocket science.
It's also not a vaccine giving you pneumonia every year. PP is correct. You don't understand how vaccines work and hopefully readers will ignore your alleged experience.
It's the anti vaccine people who are causing the measles outbreaks all over the country. Their ignorance isn't some kind of choice. It's dangerous and foolish and there is no need for ignorant nannies to add to their fire.

I voluntarily got the tdap two years ago (and was really miserable for a few days after, got all the side effects) but I will not get the flu shot. Every year I've gotten it, I've been horribly sick ALL winter. The years I don't get it, I get a cold or two and that's it. It's happened enough I'm comfortable with my decision not to get vaccinated against the flu.
A cold is not the flu. Being "horribly sick" is not the flu unless you were testing and the culture came back positive. It is simply coincidence.

The vaccine actually impairs your immune system for three to six weeks after. So, your body is more vulnerable to infection. Most people get the shot in the fall when colds and flu are most frequently spread. So PP probably contracted a virus her system would normally be healthy enough to fight.

Anonymous wrote:I don't pay for vaccinations. They are minimal requirements for the job, like CPR certification. If a nanny doesn't have the required vaccinations, don't apply for the job.
I have never interviewed a candidate who didn't already have her vaccinations and certifications in line before the interview. That's one of the measures of a professional.
