I was a Nanny many years ago. I had gotten out of it for a couple years but went back. White House Nannies wouldn’t take me because I wasn’t currently a Nanny. I had been with the last family for 7 years, had a car and clean drivers lic, current CPR and medical training, SN experience and super reliable and loved kids. Nope, not good enough.
Look, if everything about your work history was as good as you say, it’s not that you weren’t good enough. Agencies routinely have more applicants than they can properly deal with, but not enough of the truly excellent nannies that parents want. WH is so big, it’s like a nanny mill. They don’t have enough staff or interest in providing much personal attention to the parents or the applicants. It’s simply not cost efficient, and it’s all about that. Of course some excellent nannies will fall through the cracks and get rejected.
