your child cannot get vaccinated. if she's anti vax, it also means she's anti common sense. let her go. signed, a nanny of 15 years
Being anti-vaccine means you don't do any vaccines. There is not full approval yet for the COVID vaccine and its not the same kind of vaccine as other ones. If you want, fire her. She'll easily find a new job.
This is why we need clarity from OP. A nanny who is anti-vax for ALL vaccines is not the same thing as a nanny who doesn’t want the covid vaccine (especially since J&J). Most parents won’t hire a nanny who is against all vaccines. A nanny with that preference should seek out families with similar ideals. Nannies who don’t want the covid vaccine but generally do the rest are a special case. Most parents want fully vaccinated nannies, including covid.
We’re in the middle of a global pandemic where there is no vaccine against covid for children. While there are some employers who may let a nanny’s refusal to get a flu or measles vaccine slide, they’re thinking very differently about a refusal to get a covid vaccine during a covid epidemic.
The vaccine is supposed to reduce the impact of covid on the individual taking the vaccine. There is still a risk that you can get and pass on covid even vaccinated. Behavior of both the family and nanny are equally important in protecting kids.
The covid vaccine is also important to stop the spread and mutation. It’s vital that those with contact with children are vaccinated.
Its not vital and not fully approved. Behavior is vital.
