Her son wants a change which will be better for him. His parents have the ability to prioritize his needs, which is great. It sounds like OP has holidays, sick days, and summer taken care of, therefore she doesn’t need to keep the nanny. If you are a nanny, your job will end, it will not last to retirement. OP, give her notice, so that she can stay on and have some more fun times with him before she leaves. Give one week’s pay per year worked as a minimum, and immediately write a stellar reference letter. That is the best you can do. And obviously be available as a reference to her perspective families.
