Bad advice from 9:47 and 10:19. Very bad. No employer, and especially a potential employer has any right to your personal credit card statements. None.
+ 1000 I couldn't agree more w/you on this PP! There is no valid reason why a prospective nanny should EVER have to submit her credit card info. Bar none. It is common sense in this day & age of identity theft to be extra-weary of letting anyone have access to your personal information. This is really a no brained.
Look you have every right to your opinions and guess what you do not have to supply anything to an employer, you do not have to go to the interview and you do not need to take a job. No worries I get it, and I am not giving advice I am trying to explain why an employer might ask for certain documents, if the OP is not wanting to do this then fine. If you do not think as a candidate you are comfortable with what is being asked then OK. I am trying to explain to you in this industry, and the place you are wanting to work is unique, and employers are trying to be careful who they hire. There would be good reason that if an employer is thinking you have maxed out all your cards, have not had employment and down on your luck, they may think that stealing from them is a red flag. They may not ever even ask to see such documents but they may ask the question to see how you respond. If you are worried about identity theft and you are not comfortable with the person interviewing you then end it there and move on.
