I do! I live with my family and we are VERY comfortable and loving with one another. When I leave for the weekends, mom will text or kiddos will to say hey. I do the same. If kids go to their fathers over the weekends (they are divorced) I will text dad and see how they are. Or sometimes I miss them and want to say hi! I still keep in touch with old families I worked with. It depends on the nanny . Some check out and don't want to bother the family others like me, just are more comfortable and don't mind. :) Do't stress about it!
Why does there have the be the distinction between either being totally involved and "part of the family" and checked/detached? I'm a nanny who rarely texts on the weekends because I have my own life, not because I don't care about my charges and their well being. I think about them all of the time, I just don't feel the need to be in constant contact with my employers (because at the end of the day, no matter how close/different the situation may seem, that is what they are).
