Using sleep sacks past 6 months is not lazy parenting, it's safe parenting. It keeps them warm and comfy without having loose blankets in their cribs. OP- Look into getting a few Aden and Anais sleep sacks. They have single layer muslin ones that are really great for hot/sweaty weather. We also live in California :)
Using a sleep sack past when a child is mobile and is pulling up standing up which a 2 year old presumably is , is not safer. Doesn't make mom a lazy parent just a victim of clever marketing. A child of 2 is capable o sleeping with a small blanket. I warmth is the issue the child could be dresses warmly in pajamas and achieve the same result as a sleep sack without the potential risk to a climber.
Wow, I never knew sleep sacks were so controversial We still use them with my 20 month old charges, they are happy with them and I haven't thought anything of it. No one has even attempted to climb out of their crib and we keep a pretty close eye on the with the video monitor. I personally think they are better than blankets in their cribs, but to each their own. They each have one little Angel Dear lovey and that's it, so we keep things in their cribs to a minimum.
