OP, you got a month's notice after 8 months of employment, a gracious reference letter, and positive feedback from your employers (or at least from their family). What more do you want? They owe you nothing more in terms of an explanation and certainly don't have to be unhappy about it. You're speculating endlessly about their finances, family, fertility, illness, state of mind, etc... and that is WAY out of line. Enjoy your last weeks with the child, make a little photo book or something if you want him to have something to remember you by (how old is the child by the way?) and accept that moving on from kids and families is part of the job. It happened earlier in this instance than you would have preferred, but it was also handled graciously and generously by the parents - which won't always be the case. [/quote]
