Okay, say something happens and your live in nanny is bedridden temporarily. If you offered to help out, and she asked if you'd take care of her laundry, it wouldn't feel weird at all? Not too personal? You could still have a professional conversation with her after handling her period stained thongs? That'd be cool with you?

As for paying his rent, that is an absolute necessity OP if you want him to be able to say yes. And it should be in addition to any extra compensation. Asking someone to give up their space to help you out is a huge ask of someone, and he should not be paying his rent while he lives with you. But I know exactly which poster you are, and I know you're going to cheap out. I can't help but think Karma is a huge bitch. [/quote]

I would not offer.  We just do it.  I would bring 3 meals a day and snacks and make her as comfortable as possible.  I would change the sheets and clean her bathroom.   You treat someone how you want to be treated.  The kids see everything.  Both of you caring for each other sends a strong message.   I have no issue with laundry.   I will sometimes throw hers in with ours and I usually do her towels with outs.
