In our letter of agreement, she put this in writing: We agree to a minimum of two weeks notice when either party wishes to terminate. If nanny gives parents more advanced notice, parents assure nanny continued employment, until said termination date. If you had/have a wise MB, please share what she did/does.
Ummm....this isn't "smart". This is standard.
OP here. No, this is definately not standard. Maybe you misread my post. I said that my MB asked that I give her as much notice as I possibly could. In return, she promised not to terminate me as soon as she found a replacement or whatever. So I gave her six weeks notice that I was going to move out of state. I didn't have to worry that she might not want me to work for the full six weeks that I wanted to work. In fact I haven't ever heard of another MB offering the nanny that kind of written guarantee. Has anyone else? What do MBs think about this approach? From my MBs AND my perspective it was a definate win-win-win for all. Of course this arrangement required a high level of trust that my MB earned from me over the time that I worked with her child.
