I was invited to my charges birthday party and there is no way I would attend without my partner. My off time is important to me, and bc of our particular situation, weekends are the only times we have together. How would you feel if you were invited to a party and your husband was not allowed? Personally, I'd pass.
Then do so. No one needs you show up with your boy toy just because you feel entitled to do so, even if he was not invited. As for OP you need to talk to her about this,a And not sure what you're deal with her boyfriend is, but focusing on capacity and explaining upfront the invite is sans anyone, she should understand.
My boy toy? Seriously? You must be a pleasant person to be around! I am an adult in my 30's, not that it should matter to you, but he is not my boy toy. Are you in a relationship? Married? Do you enjoy your partner and value your time with him/her? Personally I do. Unless it was a women only event, I would not accept an invitation in which he was not permitted. I also value myself and would not have a working relationship with a family that did not respect and value me and my decisions. I hope your life improves so that you do not need to be so bitter towards others.
