OP here. I had a chat with her last night. I'm not sure what to think. I asked my son, who's 7 if he's seen her use her phone, and he said no...she doesn't. She admitted to texting or checking her phone while out, but while waiting in the car line or stopped at a stoplight...and not with the kids in the car or never while in motion. I think she does a good job with the childcare and we get along well...so I'm not sure what to do.
I was the first person to respond to your post, suggesting you sit her down and talk to her. It sounds like she was honest and your son is certainly old enough to report reliably on what he's seen. Are you okay with her texting while she's waiting in the car line or stopped at a light? I do both of those things myself, but don't even talk on a hands-free set when driving (I feel like it's too much of a distraction for me). I personally think you should tell her you appreciate her honesty, re-clarify your position, and move forward, as it doesn't sound like she's endangered anyone and was open with you when you asked - an EXCELLENT and essential component of an AP/HP relationship.
