Take a backseat means be in the background, not just let the family take the kids out alone. There's a lot of dumb nannies on this thread! How is the nanny in the backseat when she can't even see the kids??? Clearly the mom wanted nanny to come in for a reason and it wasn't to do chores while the family left the house with the kids alone. It was to do chores while the family played with the kids in the living room while the nanny could still hear what was happening and intervene in an emergency. Wow some of you need new jobs if you can't understand why the mom said to still come in to work yet be in the background.
Fuck off. There are mostly mothers who have nannies on this thread who agree with OP and find the mother's actions unconscionable. We all knew you ugly nanny trolls would show up. You're late.
Nice language, you sound really professional and exactly the type to 'take a backseat' having a break at home while your charges (ie: responsibility) leave the house. Instead of using that language to express your feelings, why don't you explain to me why the mom would have the nanny come in at all that day, if she was okay having her family care for the kids unsupervised? If she was okay with her family being in charge she would have told the nanny to stay home. Backseat = Background, not 'gone'.
MB here. I can answer that: MB has the nanny come in because she is paying the nanny so she might as well have her there when her family needs a break or doing child-related household chores while the kids are occupied. There is plenty to do with two high-energy SN toddlers.
