I get frustrated when people think it's always as simple as eating right and exercising. For some people? Of course. Personally, I know I became overweight because of an unhealthy lifestyle. I'm working on changing it but it's going to be a long process. That's ok. But then I look at my mom. She's one of the healthiest eaters I know. She rarely eats junk food and doesn't eat a lot of processed foods. She's fairly active as well. Yet she can't seem to get below a size 12. She has a tummy. It's not because she sits on the couch and eats. For some reason she can't lose the extra weight. Everyone's body is different.
Also, many people don't take into account other factors like bone size and muscle mass. When I am at my most skinny (as in my doctor has told me to not lose any more weight), I am at a size 8/10. I have large bones, you cannot deny this when my hips are wide enough that I cannot fit into pants that are anything smaller than an 8 yet you can wrap your fingers partially around my hip bones (giving them a sunken-in gaunt look), same with my collarbone. I also have lots of muscle in my legs and buttocks. Whether it is toned or not, it is still there. Muscle weighs more than fat does. I still weigh 138-142 lbs at a size 8/10, yet I don't have a thick layer of fat padding me at that size at all. It would be unhealthy for me to weigh less than that. Due to the size and weight of my body while skinny, me having more fat than I really need on me means I weigh much more than someone would think. You cannot use normal BMI levels on me at all. Going by my weight and height alone will give you different results that what I am actually at. So if I am really just 30 lbs overweight for what my doctors say is an ideal weight for me, then I would hate to have a potential MB not hire me because it looks to her that I am actually 50-60 lbs overweight and she doesn't think I am a good fit for her position.
