I currently work part-time 7AM-12-12:30PM MTWF caring for a three year old little girl for the past year. The family is nice and their kid is great but I am having an issue with them and have discussed it with them 2x but it still continues happening and I am considering leaving but want to know if I am overreacting here. I sometimes have another Nanny gig to go to afterward or on some occasions I have a Dr. appointment scheduled. I always have told my NF 1-2 wks ahead. Today was the fourth time in a year where one parent returns home late and I am forced to be late to my other Nanny position or Dr. appointment. Today I was 20 min. late to a dentist appointment and almost had to reschedule! Again I discussed this with my bosses and they promised they would do better but it still has happened. I feel they do not respect me and the fact that I have other commitments besides them.
You're the nanny and they do not respect you. You have three choices: (1) take kid with you to appointment and charge them double time for the inconvenience. (2) Tell them if they are late again you have no choice but to leave child by himself. (3). Find a new job with people who do respect you.
