That depends on the setup. Nannies who have no mortgage and rely on you for housing are likely to work at lower rates since it works out as a great deal for her.  If a nanny still maintains a place of her own, then she's likely to charge the same rates as her bills do not change.  Our nanny doesn't own or rent while she's with us, and while her rate is significantly lower than what we would have paid to a live-out, it's still a great deal for her because she has essentially no expenses other than clothes and personal care items. It’s harder to find a good fit as a live-in nanny.  While I don’t charge full live-out rates, I do charge more than most parents want to pay, because short-term housing is more expensive when I’m between jobs (and taking my time to find something great).  Also, many live-in nannies help to support other family members.[/quote]
