We have done it for two nannies.  Their insurance costs were different because they are different ages and made different choices about what type and level of coverage they wanted.  Their premiums ranged from about $325/month to $450/month.  We started off contributing $200/month and added to that each year.

Thanks this is helpful. I saw rates in the exchange in the $400s for plans without sky high deductibles so it helps to have some context. One other question - were the premiums for self only or did it include dependents?

So far what I'm thinking is we hold 50 percent from her paycheck tax free for her portion and then we cover the rest. If $400 is the range that would mean $200 each. Now we are in a share so not quite sure how other family will feel about this but this is something important that I'd like to make happen in 2019. Also did you pay the insurance company directly or your nanny?[/quote]
